Oxjam Brick Lane Announces Line Up
40 acts, 8 venues, one day
On Saturday 22 October Chris Coco, Run Don't Walk, Gizzelle Smith, Black Shades, Boom Monk Ben and many more will be playing at Oxjam Brick Lane Music Festival as part of Oxfam’s nationwide music festival.
The day-long multi-venue ticketed festival will take place across eight venues in East London and boasts an amazing line up. This year the festival will take over not just Brick Lane, but Shoreditch too. Cargo, Cafe 1001, The Big Chill, Exit, Concrete, All Star Lanes, Super Pizza & Junky Styling will be hosting some of the UK finest music – all in aid of Oxfam. There’ll also be face painters, body art and some amazing prizes on the night.
This year’s Festival Manager Bryanna Mannis said: “The whole team has been working really hard to make this event happen and we are very excited to have so many wonderful acts playing at the 2011 event. We know that all of the artists performing are really passionate about taking part in this great event and this gig is all about showing that the best in local music can have a global impact. So everyone who comes along can rest assured that as well as having a great time, they’ll also be helping to change lives around the world.”
Tickets for the Oxjam Brick Lane Music Festival can be bought in advance for £9 from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/137354 or for £11 on the day. Tickets will be exchanged for wristbands which allow entry to all eight of the participating venues as individual capacities permit.
The Oxjam Festivals are the highlights of Oxjam’s month-long festival. Since 2006, Oxjam has raised over £1.5 million for Oxfam. Oxjam 2011 is expected to take the total past £1.8 million, enough to buy safe water for 2 million people, 900,000 bags of seeds or 72,000 goats.
This year around 3,000 musicians will perform in over 200 venues as part of the 33 Oxjam Takeover events taking place from Aberdeen to Bristol. Each of these events is run by teams of local volunteers donating their time up to six months before the event and giving all proceeds to Oxfam.
Oxjam was created by Oxfam in 2006 as a way to involve local communities in fun fundraising. Previous events have taken place across the country and have included gigs in a local laundrette,, church and even a telephone box! The one day festival idea of “Takeover” came about in 2009 – the idea is that you buy one wristband that will get you into multi-venue events, help your community and raise money for charity.
The Oxjam Brick Lane Festival will be taking place in around Brick Lane and Shoreditch and feature TCHER (Flesh), Sinner (SMYHD, Twin Sister), DJ Philly - front room, Boom Monk Ben (Solid Steel / Mixed Bizness), Harry Jack, Holden, The Find, Chris Coco, DMax, Jack Dexter, James Fox, Gizelle Smith, Danny P, Love n Mercy, Run Don’t Walk (headliner), Black Shades, Ladon, Cop on the Edge, Dead Social Club, IC1’s and Out Side Room.
